Smart plugs paired with always-on appliances — like entertainment centers, game consoles, or office monitors — eliminate standby drain. Standby loads can quietly account for 5–10% of a typical home's electricity bill, so even small per-device savings add up.

LED smart bulbs save energy compared to old incandescent bulbs, but the savings versus standard LEDs are smaller. Their real value lies in scheduling and dimming, which prevent lights from staying on at full brightness when not needed.
